Meet Emma Savant
The nicest compliment anyone ever gave me was that I remind them of Veronica from Better Off Ted. (If you haven’t seen this show, do. It’s on Netflix and probably YouTube and the snark level is turned up to 100.)
Fanfiction was my first writer home. I started seriously writing (absolutely terrible) Harry/Ginny fics and moved on from there. I adore fanfiction and I think it’s the best sandbox for beginning writers to play in. (Or more advanced writers. Whatever makes your fingers itch for a keyboard, or pen, or pencil, or quill, or whatever your magic word tool of choice is.)
When I was little I wanted to be an opera singer. My parents thought I should be a pianist instead. So, ten years of piano lessons later… I can neither sing nor play the piano. (Sorry, Mom and Dad!)
Teenagers are my favorite people in the world. Seriously. If you are a teenager (or just in touch with your inner teenager), I love you so much. But, like, not in a creepy way. Don’t make it weird.
One time, I got to hold an original hand-illuminated manuscript of the Bible without gloves. (What were they thinking letting random college students handle that 500-year- old thing with their oily fingers?! But seriously, I’m grateful.) Afterwards, I went into the bathroom and burst into tears. I have… book feelings.
My favorite contemporary writers are Juliet Marillier (I can’t even), J.K. Rowling (obvious statement is obvious), and David Sedaris (I met him one time; he called me a loser for not knowing any languages besides English and then gave me a bag of Fritos and now I want to be him when I grow up).
